Report: Broncos Express Interest in Two Offensive Weapons

In this story:
Although the Denver Broncos lack a first and second-round draft pick this year, that hasn't stopped the team from exercising its prerogative to hold top-30 visits with prospects. The Broncos have already met with multiple prospects under the top-30 auspices, and they've run the gamut across multiple need positions.
One position the Broncos are still a little thin at is running back, and one could argue tight end lacks depth. According to 9NEWS' Mike Klis, the Broncos are scouting both positions in the 2023 class with an expected meeting with a Syracuse running back and a Michigan tight end.
"Per source, Broncos held top 30 visit with Michigan TE Luke Schoonmaker. Broncos also expected to bring in Syracuse RB Sean Tucker for top 30 visit," Klis tweeted on Friday.

Broncos also expected to bring in Syracuse RB Sean Tucker for top 30 visit.
6-5, 250 Schoonmaker had 35 catches, 418 yds, 3 TDs in 2022.
5-10, 210 Tucker combined for 2,556 yds, 23 TDs in 2021-22. #9sports
Schoonmaker isn't the first tight end the Broncos have shown interest in, as the team also held a palaver with Oregon State's Luke Musgrave. Denver's tight end depth chart has some young talent, but it is top-heavy, Greg Dulcich entering his second year and Albert Okwuegbunam poised for his fourth.
At running back, if the injury bug was removed from the equation, the Broncos would be set. But Javonte Williams is recovering from a brutal multi-ligament tear knee injury, and while there have been no reports of a setback, there's no way to accurately predict when he'll return, and in what form that'll be.
With Sean Payton at the helm, the Broncos went out and signed two running backs, one of which is viewed as a No. 1-type guy. Denver paid Samaje Perine, and Coach Payton gushed about the "flex" versatility he offers the offense. Plus, Tony Jones Jr. was signed to offer a little more veteran depth.
The Broncos don't go on the clock for the first time in the draft until pick No. 67, which is Round 3. Fortunately, Schoonmaker is projected by most draftniks as a third-round prospect.
As for Tucker, he's viewed as a late Day 2, early Day 3 guy. Still, if we're talking about the Broncos getting as much roster bang for their buck as they can this year sans a first or second-round pick, I'd have to question the wisdom of using either pick 67 or 68 on a tight end or running back.
While there are depth needs at those spots, they're outpaced by still big holes on the offensive line and rush linebacker. Defensive line, cornerback, and safety are three other roster concerns that tight end and running back pale in comparison to.
It'll be fun to see how it all shakes out.
