Broncos Release OLB Christopher Allen from IR with Injury Settlement

In this story:
Christopher Allen's time on the Denver Broncos' injured reserve list didn't last long. But his time in an orange and blue uniform is no more.
The Broncos released the former Alabama outside linebacker from IR with an injury settlement, per Monday's transaction wire, making Allen an unrestricted free agent.
So marks another disappointing outcome for Allen, who the Broncos signed as a college free agent out of Alabama following the 2022 draft — and who missed his entire rookie campaign with a foot issue that dated back to college.
The 6-foot-3, 241-pound defender returned healthy this offseason, participating in training camp as he aimed to nail down a spot on Denver's active roster. Allen, however, suffered a groin injury amid the Aug. 26 preseason finale and was moved to IR at final cuts.
Allen finished the exhibition period with four combined tackles, including two solo stops.
The Broncos chose to carry five OLBs on its 53-player squad: Randy Gregory, Frank Clark, Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper, and Thomas Incoom. Projected starter Baron Browning, who underwent offseason knee surgery, will begin the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ruling him out for the first four games.
