Broncos QB Russell Wilson Paid $12M Contract Bonus

In this story:
Built into the Russell Wilson megadeal signed last summer was an option bonus for the 2023 season which had to be exercised between March 15 and 19.
Exercised it was, and the Denver Broncos quarterback took home a $12 million payment that came due March 31, ESPN's Field Yates reported.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel is due a $14.035M payment by today.
Colts G Quenton Nelson is due a $19M payment by today.
And QB Matt Ryan is due an $8M payment by today from the Colts, with another $12M guaranteed for 2023.
Wilson, 34, is entering the second year of his five-year, $245 million contract extension. He's scheduled to count $22 million (9.5%) against Denver's salary cap — comprised of a fully-guaranteed $8 million salary and $14 million proration, per OverTheCap.com.
The nine-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee following the 2022 campaign but is expected to be ready for the start of Organized Team Activities later this spring.
"Injury wise, I'll keep you posted," Broncos head coach Sean Payton said last week at the NFL Owners Meeting in Arizona. "That's something we're not going to talk a lot about—probably ever.”
Wilson is coming off a dismaying debut with the Broncos in which he set career-lows in completion percentage (60.5%) and touchdown passes (16) while missing two starts due to concussion, shoulder, and hamstring ailments.
