Report: Broncos Sign Seventh-Round Rookie C Alex Forsyth

The Denver Broncos are crossing T's and dotting I's ahead of this weekend's rookie minicamp. The team on Tuesday signed seventh-round pick, center Alex Forsyth, to a four-year contract, 9NEWS' Mike Klis reported.
Based on the slotted pay scale for incoming NFL players, Forsyth is projected to earn $3,917,777 over the life of the deal, which includes a $77,777 signing bonus, according to Spotrac.com. He'll count $769,444 against the 2023 salary cap.
The 257th overall pick of last month's draft, Forsyth was a three-year starter at Oregon, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2022 while grading out as Pro Football Focus' second-best pass-blocking center.
"A steady center/guard option with good size and length, Forsyth plays with technique and consistency that offensive line coaches will appreciate," NFL.com draft guru Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting profile. "He wasn’t asked to play with much range from home base but gets into his block with pop and is consistent in his effort to sustain and finish the assignment. He has some issues protecting the A-gaps at times, and the pre-snap penalties are a concern. Forsyth’s poor explosiveness testing at the NFL Scouting Combine could cause concerns for teams looking at him late on Day 3 of the draft."
Though physically unrefined, the 6-foot-4, 303-pound lineman is expected to push incumbent Lloyd Cushenberry and free-agent addition Kyle Fuller for the Broncos' starting pivot job.
“With Forsyth, we see him as a center who can flex. He's going to compete just like all the rookies and the entire team," general manager George Paton said on April 29. "I was able to see him play at ‘CU’ (University of Colorado) this year. He was a pet cat for the online coaches. [He is] just tough and smart. [We just] love the way he plays the game, and he's going to compete like everyone else."
Denver has four remaining unsigned rookies — second-round wide receiver Marvin Mims, third-round linebacker Drew Sanders and defensive back Riley Moss, and sixth-round safety JL Skinner — heading into the minicamp, which is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday.
