Report: NFL Won't Suspend Broncos' Kareem Jackson for Week 2 Hit

In this story:
Denver Broncos starting safety Kareem Jackson has learned his fate after being ejected from the team's Week 2 loss to Washington.
9NEWS' Mike Klis reported Monday that Jackson will not be suspended by the NFL for his illegal hit on Commanders tight end Logan Thomas, who's now in the league's concussion protocol.
The hit occurred near halftime of Sunday's game, with Thomas catching a four-yard touchdown pass while absorbing a brutal helmet-to-helmet blow from Jackson — his second in as many weeks.
“It was a tough call," lamented Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II. "Obviously, I haven’t seen the whole thing because Kareem is a very physical player. It is one of those plays where we needed that stop and obviously football is a contact sport, and you got to do what you got to do to make plays. We know Kareem, and we know he likes to tackle, and he likes to make big hits. Seeing him come out of the game was a pretty bad moment, for sure."

Controversy is nothing new to Jackson, a 14th-year veteran who's developed a reputation for questionable (borderline dirty) play-style. Such was on display in Denver's season-opener against Las Vegas when Jackson concussed Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in a similar, headhunting fashion. He was fined $14,819 over the hit.
Jackson, though fortunate to escape suspension, can expect a heftier monetary penalty this time around. But he won't be so fortunate if there's a next time.
