After weeks of rumors, a report indicates the Browns are officially bringing back a popular uniform detail in 2024.

According to Andrew Lind of Sportslogos.net, Cleveland is set to reinstate the classic white facemasks permanently ahead of next season. The change is set to be announced in a little under two weeks on April 17, as a coinciding logo change will also be revealed on that date.

In each of the last two seasons the Browns have brought out the white facemasks for one game as part of an alternate look that was met with resounding approval from the fan base. Unfortunately, it took a couple of years for the franchise to go through the proper league channels to make the look an official part of their game day style.

Notablely, in 2022 team vice president JW Johnson indicated this switch was coming via social media when he chimed in to a poll on X regarding the facemasks. Johnson noted the collective input from the fan base and urged the Browns faithful to show some patience.

This won't be the first time Cleveland has donned white facemasks as part of its official look. The franchise initially had grey mask from their founding in 1948 until 1975, when the switch to white was first made.

They remained white up until the team was relocated to Baltimore following the 1995 season and stayed white when it was restored in 1999. The grey was then reintroduced in 2006 and through 2015 before the Browns unveiled their current brown colored masks.
