Bengals Wideout Tee Higgins Provides Update On His Future With Browns Rival

Higgins requested a trade out of Cincinnati earlier this offseason.

In a highly competitive AFC North, there's the four rival teams express zero sympathy for one another when a star player can't be retained.

The Bengals have been at the forefront of that this offseason after star wideout Tee Higgins requested a trade last month. The young wideout opened up about his future over the weekend and now seems poised to remain with the Browns in-in-state rival Cincinnati for the 2024 season.

"We'll see. I do anticipate it," Higgins said of spending next season with the Bengals at his youth football camp.  "I've grown a love for Cincy that I didn't think I would. Looking forward to it."

Higgins didn't come across as being overly thrilled about the situation, despite expressing his love for the city of Cincinnati. Bengals fans on the other hand should be thrilled about the prospect of Higgins sticking around for at least another season.

Together, Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase form one of the the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL. With quarterback Joe Burrow working his way back from a wrist injury, the Bengals are expected to have Super Bowl aspirations again, especially if they keep that receiving duo intact.

Higgins initially received the franchise tag from the Bengals in early March, but requested a trade about a week later when free agency opened up after the two sides couldn't come to terms on a long-term extension. No deal is imminent at the moment, which means in Higgins does end up playing for Cincy next season it would be on the franchise tag with a cap hit around $21.8 million.

Through his first four seasons in the NFL, Higgins has posted two 1,000 yard seasons and 3,684 total yards. He also had scored 24 touchdowns over that span, while serving as a consistent target for Burrow, hauling in 100-plus receptions every year except this past one.
