Bucs' Players Believe Kyle Trask Will Get Shot as Starter

In this story:
Tom Brady's second and final retirement happened just a couple of weeks ago, and now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a decision to make on what direction they want to go when it comes to who will lead the team behind center.
Up until Brady's retirement, the talk on how the Bucs would go about their future question mark at QB centered around them either making a trade for a veteran signal-caller or landing one in free agency. Unfortunately for the Bucs, their cap situation has limited them in terms of getting one of the upper enchalant quarterbacks on the market.

While in Phoenix, Arizona for the Super Bowl, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, spoke with a few current Buccaneers' players who believe current quarterback, Kyle Trask, will get a shot as the starter in 2023.
"Caught up with a few Bucs players in Phoenix who believe Trask will get a shot at QB1 for Tampa. The feeling is Trask’s draft pedigree as a second-round pick, coupled with a scarcity of realistic options on the market, will get him on the field."
Trask was drafted out of the University of Florida in the second round, 64th overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. The Bucs drafted Trask with the understanding he would be able to sit behind veteran quarterbacks and be able to develop into a full-time starting NFL QB.
So far there hasn't been a tremendous amount of work seen from Trask to warrant the pick or playing time as he has only played in one regular season game that saw him throw 9 times while completing just 3 passes for 23 yards. Outside of that one game, the only time one had an opportunity to see what Trask is capable of came during training camp and the preseason.

With question marks surrounding the organization's ability to land a top free-agent quarterback this offseason - in large part due to their salary cap situation - the Buccaneers could decide to roll with Trask this upcoming season and give him his shot at staking the claim as the Bucs' QB of the future.
