Former Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator Takes Shot at Jameis Winston

In this story:
The Buccaneers have had success on the field in recent years, but prior to Bruce Arians and Tom Brady arriving in Tampa Bay there were a number of tumultuous seasons. During that time, the Buccaneers' quarterback was former No. 1 overall pick, Jameis Winston.
New Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, was Winston's offensive coordinator for three of his seasons in Tampa Bay.

Recently, during his introductory press conference for the Baltimore Ravens, Monken took a shot at his former QB.
“When I was in Tampa we had really good receivers,” Monken gloated. “We had Desean [Jackson], Mike Evans, we had Chris Godwin, we had Adam Humphries, O.J. Howard, Cam Brate.”
“We had quarterbacks who loved to throw it, sometimes to the other team but they loved to throw,” Monken said.

Monken isn't wrong. Jameis didn't necessarily light the world on fire as a starting NFL quarterback during his time with the Buccaneers and Todd Monken. This is evidenced by his '30-for-30' season back in 2019.
Even though he isn't wrong, Monken could have handled the situation a bit better. Clearly, everyone knows that Winston struggled and has been working his way back to become a capable NFL starting quarterback. Winston has been through the wringer since entering the league and most recently was passed over by the Saints in favor of Andy Dalton all because he was dealing with a number of injuries.
It is highly unlikely that Monken and Jameis will once again cross paths. Monken has his quarterback situation under control in Baltimore (for now), so it is doubtful that Jameis would be signed even as a backup. Winston is set to become a free agent this off-season and most likely will end up as a high-end backup for a competing team.
