Former Buccaneers' Offensive Linemen Arrested in Tampa on Battery Charge

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle was arrested in Tampa a week ago and is facing a first-degree misdemeanor battery charge.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle, Demar Dotson, has gotten himself into some legal trouble following his arrest last Friday night at his Tampa home. Dotson will be facing a first-degree misdemeanor battery charge following his arrest but was released from jail on a $250 bond Monday morning.

According to the Hillsborough Sheriff's Officer report, Dotson reportedly slapped a woman in the face after a verbal argument escalated, and after she slapped him back, he hit her again with a closed fist, knocking her to the ground. The victim had a one-inch laceration on her face and a black eye.

Following the incident, a judge ordered Dotson to surrender all firearms to police while the case is pending to prevent any future harm between the parties involved in the case. The woman's name has been redacted from the report to protect her privacy as a victim.

Dotson enjoyed a 12-year NFL career - the majority of that being with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for eleven years before joining the Denver Broncos on a one-year contract. He called his career quits after his time in Denver and entered retirement.

Although Dotson is currently not an active NFL player, it is important to draw attention to cases such as this that result in violence and hopefully work towards addressing these issues that are uber prevalent in our society today.
