Former Buccaneers Wide Receiver Reaches Deal With NFC Team

Former Bucs' wide receiver, Tyler Johnson, has agreed to terms with an NFC West team.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers' fifth-round draft pick in 2020 out of the University of Minnesota, wide receiver Tyler Johnson, has had a rough go of finding a home since the Buccaneers released him in 2022. However, it seems that Johnson will once again get another shot with another team after reaching a deal to join the former Super Bowl champions the Los Angeles Rams.

Johnson was seen as a steal for the Buccaneers when they snagged him 161st overall in the 2020 NFL draft after putting up astonishing numbers at the University of Minnesota that saw him break school records in career receiving yards (3,305) and touchdowns (33). Johnson also recorded 16 career 100-yard receiving games, a school record, on his way to earning First-Team All-Big Ten selections in 2018 and 2019.

During his two-year stint with the Bucs, Johnson put up modest numbers in a wide receiver room that became hard to find snaps and playing time posting 48 receptions for 529 yards and two touchdowns across 31 games.

After the Buccaneers released him in 2022, he was picked up off waivers by the Houston Texans and played in just two games prior to being released again in October. Following his time in Houston, Johnson returned to Tampa Bay to join the Bucs' practice squad for the remainder of the season.

Most recently, Johnson latched on with the Las Vegas Raiders, but was once again let go becoming a free agent. Now, Johnson will try and revive his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams who are coming off a less than successful 2022 season.
