Tampa Bay Buccaneers' HC Todd Bowles Reveals Decision on Devin White's Inactive Tag

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach Todd Bowles gave an answer to why LB Devin White was listed as inactive Sunday vs. the Packers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' linebacker Devin White has missed the team's past three games. The prior two games that White has been absent from was due to a foot injury.

After being an active participant in practice throughout the week, things were looking positive for the fifth-year LB to suit up and get back into action, however, those hopes were dashed prior to kickoff Sunday against the Packers as the Buccaneers announced that White would be inactive - noting that it was not an injury-related scratch.

In the three games that White has recently been out of the Buccaneers have gotten great production from K.J. Britt and have gone on to go 3-0 over the course of them.

With the decision to scratch White from the game against Green Bay on Sunday, Bucs' head coach Todd Bowles spoke to the media following the game in which he addressed the decision.

“I made him inactive based on him saying he couldn’t go today so if he couldn’t go today, I made him inactive."

Was it due to health?

“That’s probably a question for him but I’m sure he’d say his foot was sore. He told me he couldn’t go so we played the guys we had to play,'' Bowles said.

From Bowles' comments, it didn't seem to be any more than White stating that he thought he couldn't go, however, there seemed to be some underlying tones to the answer.

Saying that question is more meant for the player is definitely throwing shade at why the LB decided he couldn't give it a go. The team had decided that they would start K.J. Britt at the LB position usually filled by White even prior to the latter stating he couldn't give it a go and apparently some of White's teammates and coaches are starting to get frustrated with the linebacker's attitude recently.

Things have been an up-and-down roller coaster with White this season. It started with looking for a contract extension before asking to be traded publicly. White eventually came around and decided to earn what he thought he deserved this season. After starting out hot to begin the season, his play once again slipped and it looks like the Bucs are ready to roll with Britt for the remainder of the season.

If this is indeed a sign of things to come, it appears that White won't spend too much more of his time in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers.
