In this story:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still in the beginnings of training camp but all eyes are on Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask every time the team takes the field. The two have been mostly even throughout the first five practices of the preseason with both making their fair share of plays.

With that being said, there has been one crucial aspect separating the pair of quarterbacks so far and that is turnovers. Mayfield has already tossed four interceptions during camp while Trask has only been picked off once.

Buccaneers starting cornerback Carlton Davis has gotten plenty of reps against Mayfield and Trask during practice. However, he hasn't been one of the five defenders (LB SirVocea Dennis X2, S Antoine Winfield, CB Zyon McCollum, OLB Yaya Diaby, S Nolan Turner) to pull down an interception in camp just yet. That will probably change in the near future.

While addressing the media following a recent practice, Davis went into detail about what he's seen from the two players vying to replace Tom Brady.

"It is a heavy competition. They are making plays and we are making plays on them," Davis said on Sunday. "They are competing at the end of the day. They are just coming out here and competing."

"Baker is coming out and competing. Kyle Trask is really coming out and competing. I have really seen an edge on him, especially the last two days," Davis continued. "He has been laser-focused, you can tell by how he has been operating the offense and his decision-making. We are here for training camp, so we are here to get better. We are here to work hard and not be complacent in whatever we do. I feel like every day we want to get better, and we have to get better."

Trask appears to be making the most out of his increased opportunities early in training camp. Neither player has gained much of an edge just yet, that will be dictated by performances during preseason games. Regardless, this is an encouraging update for the former second-round pick and the light might finally be turning on.
