The ever-looming idea that future hall of fame tight end, Rob Gronkowski will come out of retirement to play in the NFL again seems to be coming to a close after Gronk's latest statements regarding unretirement when speaking with TMZ.com.

Gronkowski was short and precise when discussing if he would return to football, ultimately shutting down any idea that he would come out of retirement.

"There's no chance anymore," the former Buccaneers and Patriots tight end said of a possible comeback. "I'm happily retired."

Gronk hung up his cleats following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2021 season, but the question kept arising if he would un-retire later in the 2022 season to help a contending team.

There were offers and openings for him to make a comeback at that time, but Gronk decided to remain off the gridiron and now has completely eradicated the notion that he would return at all.

Gronk is soaking up the time he has outside of football, but still remains the competitive guy as he talked about getting into pickleball with his brother - something he believes he is just as good at.

"I beat my brother, Chris, who plays with pros, and my other brother, Gordon, who plays with pros too!" he said. "And I beat 'em with an average Joe -- my other brother, Glenn G., was my partner!"

"So," he added, "I'm happily retired. I'm still competing, I'm still winning, so I don't even need to go back to football."

During his 11-year NFL career, Gronk posted astonishing numbers, making 621 catches for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns. Gronkowski will go down as one of the best tight ends to ever play the game, and although his football playing days are over he will become eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2027 where he most certainly should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
