Could Cardinals Land Big-Name Running Back?

The Arizona Cardinals already have James Conner in the fold, though that hasn't stopped oddsmakers from plugging free agent running backs to the desert.

The Arizona Cardinals are home from the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, and though discussion and conversation will begin to circulate around their incoming crop of college players, free agency begins next week.

Players added and dropped in the open market will pave the road for what Arizona intends on doing in the draft. With 30 players set to hit the open market, there's room for a major roster turnover.

Running back isn't exactly the top priority for the Cardinals with James Conner already in the mix, though that hasn't stopped oddsmakers from putting Arizona on the map for some big name running backs set to enter free agency.

On FloridaBet, the Cardinals have the second-best odds to land running back Leonard Fournette, who is expected to be released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Miami Dolphins 15.5% +545

Arizona Cardinals 13.7% +630

Cleveland Browns 12.5% +700

Bookies.com has the Cardinals as the third highest team to land Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon.

Cincinnati Bengals +150 40.0%

Chicago Bears +400 20.0%

Arizona Cardinals +450 18.2%

Oddschecker isn't ruling out Saquon Barkley coming to Arizona, though the Cardinals were last out of the 12 teams listed.

Conner's been a great asset for the Cardinals when healthy, and the new Jonathan Gannon regime in Arizona may want to preserve their RB1 by grabbing another top runner to form a strong 1-2 punch at the position.

Conner (who will be 28 at the start of next season) is under contract for the next two years.

Keaontay Ingram and Ty'Son Williams are the other running backs signed to the Cardinals at this time.
