Cardinals' Biggest Draft Need Revealed

It's no surprise to see what The Athletic dubbed as Arizona's biggest need.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals have a plethora of needs as the 2024 NFL Draft crawls closer, though their top need might be too tough to argue against.

In The Athletic's recent piece going through each team's biggest need, wide receiver was picked as Arizona's top hole to fill:

"General manager Monti Ossenfort has done a nice job addressing Arizona’s needs, adding help on the offensive and defensive lines, as well as at cornerback. He even brought in a backup quarterback, trading with Atlanta for Desmond Ridder. The Cardinals still could use a pass rusher, but their biggest need remains at wide receiver. Since the end of last season, they have lost free agent Hollywood Brown (Kansas City) and traded Rondale Moore (for Ridder.) Arizona has promising Michael Wilson and dependable Greg Dortch, but the Cardinals lack a playmaker who strikes fear in defenses. With the No. 4 pick in this month’s draft, which is stocked with receiver talent, Ossenfort is positioned to add a difference-maker, one way or another." - Doug Haller

It's really tough to argue against, as Arizona failed to fill any of the holes left by Moore or Brown. The Cardinals were favored to take a wideout early in the draft even when both names were on the roster.

Trading down or not, it's fair to expect the Cardinals to walk out of the first round with one of the top receivers in the draft. Arizona has done plenty of homework on the consensus top three wideouts in Malik Nabers, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze ahead of April 25.

The WR class is considered deep, so perhaps the Cardinals opt to fill other holes with their first few selections - but there'd be very little push back on taking a receiver with their first pick, regardless of where they end up.
