Cardinals 'Concerned' on Marquise Brown's Health

The Arizona Cardinals need Marquise Brown to get healthy.

ARIZONA -- When it rains, it pours.

The Arizona Cardinals dropped to 3-11 on the season after a 45-29 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15.

"On the injury front I think [Geoff] Swaim had a calf, wasn't able to return. A couple guys got nicked but they came back in so we'll see how that goes on Monday," said Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon after the loss.

The Cardinals saw a handful of players depart due to injury, with some especially notable names such as Kyler Murray, Trey McBride and Marquise Brown exiting action.

Murray and McBride didn't miss much time, though Brown departed roughly halfway through action with a heel injury and didn't return. His heel was something that hindered him all week and ultimately saw him labeled as questionable heading into Sunday.

Brown played in all prior 13 games leading into Week 15 but has been listed on the injury report in numerous weeks for varying issues such as a thumb, hamstring, illness - and now a heel.

The question of whether or not Brown - who is in the final year of his contract - is injury prone can be debated, but when asked if he was concerned about Brown's injury, Gannon didn't mince words:

"I am. I am. I mean it's been going on for a little bit and he's trying to grind through. He's a warrior, and we need him. But if he can't go, he can't go. Obviously that hurts us because he's a good player. So I just make sure we're doing a good job during the week and getting them ready to get to Sunday." - Gannon on Brown

Reporters also spoke with Murray after the game, who offered the following when asked if the injuries were frustrating.

"Yeah, I mean, like I said, it goes back to the frustration part. He's given his all trying to be out there for the squad and in return, not really getting the rock. It's just kind of like, when it rains it pours type of thing for him right now," said Murray.

Brown left vs. San Francisco without a target.

"Obviously me knowing his talent, it's tough for him not to be getting the rock and show his talents. I know who he is, what type of guy, what type of player he is. But at the end of the day, his health is most important. He's gotta get healthy and be able to be himself when he's out there."

We should learn more about Brown's health tomorrow when media meets with Gannon on Monday afternoon.
