Upset! Cardinals Take Down Eagles

The Arizona Cardinals went into Philadelphia and upset the heavily-favored Philadelphia Eagles.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals did the unthinkable - going into the city of Rocky and cheesesteaks to upset the Philadelphia Eagles in 35-31 fashion.

Here's how the action unfolded at Lincoln Financial Field:

First Quarter

After the Cardinals won the toss and deferred, Philadelphia retained possession first but were forced to go three-and-out to begin the game.

On their first opportunity with the ball, Arizona managed to pick up a couple first downs and enter Eagles territory, heading all the way down to the PHI 3 before being stonewalled and forced to kick a field goal.

Matt Prater's first attempt of the day was good, putting Arizona up 3-0 early on, capping their second-longest scoring drive of the season with 14 plays.

AZ 3, PHI 0

Jalen Hurts and co. finally found momentum on their second drive, moving the ball with ease through the air.

Facing a fourth-and-short, the Eagles converted with their patented tush-push to keep their drive alive.

With seconds remaining in the first, Hurts found Julio Jones in the end zone, who beat Cardinals rookie corner Starling Thomas on an over route to push Philadelphia ahead 7-3.

The score was Jones' second of the season.

PHI 7, AZ 3

Hurts finished the quarter 5/5 passing.

Arizona will retain possession to begin the second quarter facing a third-and-eight.

Second Quarter

Appearing ready to take over the score, Murray threw his first interception of the day on what was a clear miscommunication with rookie receiver Michael Wilson - leading to an easy 99-yard interception return for Eagles corner Sydney Brown.

PHI 14, AZ 3

After again moving the ball with ease, the Cardinals faced a fourth-and-one that was successfully converted by James Conner on the ground to keep the drive alive.

However, Philadelphia's defense again came up big, forcing another Prater field goal.

PHI 14, AZ 6

Hurts and Philly's offense found the end zone once again after a methodical drive ended with a second Julio Jones touchdown right before the half ended - just the first time in three years he's had a multiple touchdown game according to the broadcast.

PHI 21, AZ 6

The Cardinals will receive possession to begin the third quarter.

Third Quarter

Arizona continued to move the ball well offensively - this time through the legs of backup running back Michael Carter - to find their next score of the day and draw Philly's to one possession.

PHI 21, AZ 13

After the Eagles went three-and-out on their first drive of the second half, Arizona again marched on a lengthy drive to find the end zone, this time coming on an impressive throw and catch from Kyler Murray to James Conner.

Michael Wilson caught the two-point conversion to give Arizona the tie.

AZ 21, PHI 21

Philadelphia will retain possession to begin the final quarter of play.

Fourth Quarter

The Eagles indeed had an answer for Arizona, going down on a 13 play, 70-yard drive that ended with a Dallas Goedert touchdown reception to push Philadelphia back into the lead.

PHI 28, AZ 21

Playing true to the nature of a back-and-forth contest, rookie Michael Wilson would find the end zone on Arizona's ensuing drive to even the score back up at 28-28 with under six minutes to play.

AZ 28, PHI 28

After an unsuccessful onside kick, the Eagles had prime opportunity to grind clock and settle for what would have been a game-sealing score.

Instead, Arizona's defense came up big and forced a 43-yard Jake Elliot field goal, which was good to give the Eagles a three-point lead with just over two minutes left to play.

PHI 31, AZ 28

Looking to respond, Greg Dortch had a 36-yard reception to push Arizona down into scoring territory.

Plays later, Conner found the end zone to push Arizona into the lead.

AZ 35, PHI 31

Hurts and co. were unable to make anything of their final drive, seeing a final Hail Mary attempt intercepted.
