Cardinals Safety Budda Baker Feels Disrespected

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker feels disrespected, according to his latest Instagram story.

It's been quite the offseason for Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.

As the story goes, the Cardinals' safety approached the organization months ago and demanded to be the highest paid at his position. When Arizona didn't follow suit, Baker made his trade request public shortly before the 2023 NFL Draft.

We're now almost a month removed from that request, and nothing has changed. Baker still hasn't had his contract fixed to his liking, and he still hasn't departed the desert.

In his own words - he feels disrespected.

On his latest Instagram story, Baker shared with his 172k followers that he, "Feel like they don't respect me."

Who exactly Baker is targeting is unknown, but it could be a pretty safe bet that he's directing this at Arizona for not taking care of the situation.

Before the draft, both general manager Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon touched on Baker's trade request.

“Here’s what I would say. I’d say myself and JG, we’ve had a lot of conversations with Budda and his representation. A lot of productive conversations and those continue to happen," Ossenfort said.

"I understand that Budda went public with his request last week. I would say that the conversations that I’ve had with Budda, I want those to remain between Budda and I. Those are personal. Those are private and I’m not going to get into a situation where I’m handling one of those situations in the public forum so I hope you guys appreciate that. Again, I think I’ve been clear about how I feel about Budda as a person and a player and nothing about that has changed.”

Gannon on if Baker’s trade request was tough to hear:

“No. I like to hear all our players; how they’re feeling and what they’re going through because each one of them are different. Like Monti said, just talking to him I know what’s in his heart. I know he is a phenomenal person and he is a phenomenal player. We’ve had great conversations so far and a good relationship. I’m looking forward to keeping that moving forward.”

Baker has just two years left on his deal with no guaranteed money. He did no show up to voluntary workouts before the draft.
