DeAndre Hopkins to Cowboys? Cardinals WR Apparently Wants it

The Arizona Cardinals might not have DeAndre Hopkins around much longer. If the receiver has his way, he just might end up with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Arizona Cardinals have quite the offseason to sort through.

Before the team can officially move on to what the No. 3 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft holds, GM Monti Ossenfort and company must sort through a free agency period that has already seen top players in DE Zach Allen and CB Byron Murphy walk to other teams.

They might not be losing top talent.

The Cardinals have reportedly been looking to move DeAndre Hopkins since the early stages of the offseason. With the new league year here, the Cardinals can now officially move on from the near 31-year-old receiver as a rebuild is on the horizon.

Hopkins was initially thought to hold the advantage in trade talks thanks to a no-trade clause, but he reportedly had that voided after his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's PED policy last season.

Arizona can trade him to any club of their choosing, but if Hopkins had his way, he apparently would be heading to the Dallas Cowboys.

There's been some recent smoke on Hopkins heading to the Lone Star State. He previously played for the Houston Texans (and loves the area; he's spent much of his offseason there already) and has garnered some serious interest from some of Dallas' top recruiters in LB Micah Parsons and CB Trevon Diggs.

NFL Network's Jane Slater offered an interesting nugget in a recent tweet that saw a Cowboys source apparently say Hopkins might be telling everybody he wants to play with Dallas next season.

Per Over The Cap, the Cowboys currently have $22.8 million in cap space after restructuring big name contracts such as Dak Prescott's and releasing Ezekiel Elliot.

Dallas is certainly in the market to add another receiver to their already talented offense. They're reportedly interested in free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who is expected to try and get $15-20 million annually.

Hopkins would arrive to Dallas with a $19.45 million cap hit for 2023. The Cardinals incur a $22.6 million dead cap hit but do save $8.15 million for next season.
