Larry Fitzgerald Pushing Cardinals to Draft Ohio State Star

It's no secret that former Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald wants to see Marvin Harrison Jr. land in the desert.

ARIZONA -- There's no secret who Arizona Cardinals fans want in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals - sitting with the No. 4 overall pick - feel like a perfect destination for Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr., who is touted as one of the best wide receiver prospects to enter the league in quite some time.

Yes, he's the son of NFL Hall of Fame wideout Marvin Harrison. And yes, he's viewed as a better player emerging out of college than his father.

Time will tell if son can follow father's footsteps to a gold jacket, though Harrison Jr. hasn't even stepped foot into the league and such expectations should be put on hold.

That won't stop fans from clamoring for his name to be called if available on draft night - and that's a sentiment Larry Fitzgerald shares, too.

“He’s a stud,” said Fitzgerald to 12 News' Cameron Cox in an exclusive interview

“If he's there, I hope we get him. Kyler (Murray) would love to throw it to him. I saw him working out at Ohio State some years back. I’m a big fan of his father (Hall of Famer receiver Marvin Harrison), and from everything I’ve heard, he’s just a good hard working young man. You can never have enough high character, outstanding talented football players because those guys that are the pillars of your foundation.”

That's quite the amount of praise coming from a soon-to-be Hall of Fame wideout, and it's not exactly a secret players on the team want Harrison Jr. to come to the desert.

Harrison Jr. fits checks every box from frame, speed, and being able to do nearly anything a receiver would be asked to do at the next level.

He'd also be a perfect fit in a Cardinals offense that needs a playmaker at the position.

“He’s a heck of a lot more talented than I was at that age,” Fitzgerald said of Harrison.

“He can take short passes and go long. He can go over the top. He's a willing participant like in terms of blocking in the run game. I wasn't a willing participant until like 2013 later in my career. I did it begrudgingly, but he does it already in college and he does it does it really well. So if he's there, I definitely would love to see him in Cardinal red.”
