ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are just 2-10 on the season and sit with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (as of today) with little hope of making anything of the remainder of the season.

It's a tough spot to be in, though the Cardinals have flashed some bright spots for the future under head coach Jonathan Gannon.

Heading into Week 13, their spot in power rankings across the web remained pretty consistent:

Bleacher Report: No. 30

Brent Sobleski: "The Cardinals are right where they need to be. As of now, they currently sit in the two-hole for the 2024 NFL draft with a 2-10 record. Coming into this year, many already considered Arizona one of the league's worst rosters, if not the worst overall. This season was going to be a wash no matter what. But it's all about building the foundation toward the direction the franchise intends to go. Right now, Arizona is positioned well to either A) draft another quarterback, B) add an elite talent like Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. or C) leverage its future pick for extra assets."

ESPN: No. 30

Josh Weinfuss: "The Cardinals' defense was once the backbone of the team, carrying it while Arizona waited for Kyler Murray's return. It was so good it was ranked in the top five in sacks. Now it's tied for 11th and has continued to struggle as the season has gone, especially against the run -- it allowed 228 rushing yards Sunday against the Rams. The offense will continue to be a work in progress this season now that Murray is back and the unit tries to figure out a way to play together."

NFL.com: No. 30

Eric Edholm: "This was a setback in the Kyler Murray Refurbishment Project, as nothing seemed to go right for the offense Sunday against the Rams after the opening-drive touchdown. Costly penalties, constant pressure and missed (easy) connections were a problem all day. These are the types of plays that will hinder Murray's development and the Cardinals' evaluation of him in these semi-important games down the stretch. Murray threw for almost half his yards in the fourth quarter with the Rams up big, didn't really scramble and was sacked four times, twice on third down. The run game in general wasn't working, and the Cardinals' defense had no answers for Kyren Williams and the Rams' offense. This was one of Arizona's worst efforts after a fair number of competitive outings."

The Athletic: No. 30

Josh Kendall: "The Cardinals got a Murray bump in his first game back from a torn ACL, but they have returned to form now. Murray had an 83.2 passer rating, rushed for only 2 yards and was sacked four times Sunday. The Cardinals are in position to draft either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, and Murray is dynamic enough that he can bring them a good return on the trade market."

Arizona travels on the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.
