In this story:

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are now officially done in the hunt for the postseason, having been eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers after falling to 3-11 on the year.

Here's what the national media is saying about the team in Week 16 power rankings:

CBS: No. 25

"It's on to 2024, but the question remains whether it will be Kyler Murray under center. I think it will be."

The Athletic: No. 29

"This team is exactly what we thought it would be. There was a moment (remember the Week 3 win over Dallas?) when Arizona looked like it might be plucky, but the only wins since have come against the reeling Falcons and Steelers. The Cardinals have ended up where they want to be, in the mix to draft one of the top two quarterbacks in the league."

Bleacher Report: No. 29

"The season has been over for weeks. As things stand right now, the Cardinals would pick third in the 2024 NFL draft. The last thing the team needs is to louse up that pick.

"With that said, there are some massive questions the team will have to answer in a few weeks. Has Gannon earned another season as head coach after this year's miserable campaign? Do the Cardinals dare consider drafting a quarterback after handing Kyler Murray a $230 million extension?

"It's been a rough season in the desert. But the offseason is going to be long on drama and short on boring days."

Sports Illustrated: No. 30

"The Cardinals heaved the best of themselves against the 49ers in this one and came up short. They are now selecting third in the NFL draft, behind the Patriots and Bears. I am leaning toward keeping Murray and giving him the best receiver prospect we’ve seen in a long time. Under slightly better circumstances this is a fringe playoff team."

Pro Football Talk: No. 29

"They haven’t quit, which not every team can say."

ESPN: No. 29

"The Cardinals are allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete 69.6% of their passes, which is tied for the league's highest (Minnesota). It's a product of a secondary that's full of young and inexperienced cornerbacks who have become targets for opposing quarterbacks to pick on."

The Cardinals face the Chicago Bears in Week 16.
