The most notable absence will be D.J. Humphries, who didn't practice all week after leaving Week 9 early with an ankle injury. He will likely be replaced by Kelvin Beachum.
Will Hernandez was spotted working out pre-game and was feeling good enough to stay at right guard today. As previously reported by Jordan Schultz, rookie receiver Michael Wilson will feature in Arizona's offense today, too.
Friday's injury report initially looked as follows:
OUT -- Trystan Colon, Emari Demercado
QUESTIONABLE -- James Conner, Will Hernandez, D.J. Humphries, Carter O'Donnell, Geoff Swaim, Ezekiel Turner, Michael Wilson
HEALTHY, WILL PLAY -- Cameron Thomas, Marco Wilson
On Saturday, the Cardinals announced the following roster moves:
- Activated running back James Conner from the injured reserve/designated for return list
- Re-signed running back Tony Jones Jr. to the practice squad
- Elevated offensive lineman Jackson Barton and running back Tony Jones Jr. to the active roster from the practice squad as standard elevations
- Released offensive lineman Vitaliy Gurman from the practice squad
The Cardinals are 1-8 and hope to stop a six-game losing streak. The Falcons are 4-5 entering State Farm Stadium and have lost their last three of four.
Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon offered some strong praise for Atlanta ahead of their matchup:
“Offensively, they’re top three in explosives. They generate explosives. They’ve got some unique skill guys that they deploy differently. You guys didn’t do your research. For two years, I shared an office this big with their head coach. He was offensive quality control, and I was defensive quality control in Tennessee. He’s committed to running the ball and finds creative ways to do that, and then when you say, ‘You know what? We’re going to stop the run.’ He throws it over your head. It’s a hard scheme to go against and he’s got good skill, that’s well coached," said Gannon.
"That’s what I’d say about the offense. The defense hired a new coordinator from New Orleans, and they brought (in) some premiere players this offseason. They’ve got good skill on all three levels. They mix up looks and they do a good job of rush and cover. They do a really good job on first down efficiency to get you behind the sticks, so we’ve got to make sure we play the game on our terms. Special teams, they do a couple different things as far as with their return units, so we’ve got to be able to combat that a little bit, and as always to play penalty free and generate some explosives on fourth down. That’s helped our team immensely.”
Kickoff is slated for 2:05 PM Arizona Time.
