ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray didn't come close to winning NFL Comeback Player of the Year, though he did receive a vote:

Won by Joe Flacco (though Damar Hamlin had more first-place votes), here was the final total for the league's annual award for best performance after overcoming adversity the year prior:

1. Joe Flacco: 151

2. Damar Hamlin: 140

3. Baker Mayfield: 93

4. Matthew Stafford: 30

5. Tua Tagovailoa: 21

6. Brock Purdy: 6

7. Calvin Ridley: 3

8. Breece Hall: 3

9. Lamar Jackson: 1

10. Aaron Donald: 1

11. Kyler Murray: 1

Murray tore his ACL and meniscus in the late stages of the 2022 season and worked his way back to the playing field for the second half of 2023, all while operating under a new offense, coaching staff and no DeAndre Hopkins at his disposal.

He finished the season completing 66% of his passes for 2,043 yards and 13 total touchdowns with five turnovers.

Three of Arizona's four wins came under Murray's guidance after his return, and the Cardinals couldn't have been more impressed with their franchise quarterback:

"I wish we were playing another game next week, then I think it would be better. We just need a little time on task. That was my whole point to you guys about it’s going to take a little time. I know he kind of poo-pooed on that after he lit it up against Atlanta, but I really think the sky’s the limit. I think that he can hit another level. I know our team can. I know the offense can. I hate to say it, but he’s in there working out today. It’s like, ‘Dude, just go home man. Take a break.’ But he doesn’t want to hear that. He’s on a little different process than the other guys coming off his injury, but with that guy playing quarterback for us, I know we can win every game.”

Murray has been confirmed as the man moving forward for Arizona - and with plenty of draft capital and cap space available - the team could vastly improve heading into the 2024 season.
