Chris Jones Tweets at Chiefs to Re-Sign Frank Clark

Kansas City's star defensive tackle apparently wants his running mate back in the fold for 2023.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost some veteran free agents from their defensive line this offseason, most notably defensive ends Frank Clark and Carlos Dunlap. With the team's signing of Charles Omenihu, re-signing of Derrick Nnadi and its drafting of both Felix Anudike-Uzomah and BJ Thompson, though, there's a very finite amount of spots left at the EDGE and defensive tackle positions.

That isn't stopping Chris Jones from taking to Twitter to campaign for one of his longtime teammates to be brought back. Jones tweeted directly at the Chiefs' official account on Tuesday night, and his message was simple: Bring 'The Shark' back.

Just a day earlier, Jones tweeted directly at both Clark and the Chiefs with the message "Let's finish it....." Clark has yet to respond to Jones on Twitter, as does former Chiefs defensive tackle Mike Pennel (whom Jones also tweeted at on Monday afternoon). It's clear that Jones, who's cemented his status as the face of Steve Spagnuolo's defense over the past several years, is all for reuniting with some familiar faces and making a run at another Super Bowl championship.

Clark, who turns 30 in June, is coming off a 2022-23 season that saw him log five sacks and eight tackles for loss. The three-time Pro Bowler had more tackles last season than in any other year as a member of the Chiefs, although the team parted ways with him earlier this offseason due to both sides failing to come to an agreement on a reworked contract for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

With George Karlaftis expected to make a second-year leap, as well as the duo of Anudike-Uzomah and Omenihu working in rotation behind him and Mike Danna entering a contract year, the Chiefs have a decent amount of depth in their defensive end room as things currently stand. Clark would undoubtedly be a welcomed addition to the group, however, and the locker room is known for being extremely fond of his leadership and veteran presence. Jones is obviously fond of him, too, and Clark would be signed off the open market as soon as possible if Jones had things his way.
