Former Kansas City Chiefs DE Frank Clark Signing With Denver Broncos

In this story:
The Kansas City Chiefs' defensive end room lost veterans Carlos Dunlap and Frank Clark to the free agent market this offseason and just a few days after Clark visited the White House with the team, he's officially expected to sign elsewhere.
Per a Thursday report from Jordan Schultz of theScore, Clark is staying in the AFC West and will be signing with the Denver Broncos:
Breaking: Free agent pass rusher Frank Clark is signing with the #Broncos, sources tell @theScore.

The 3x Pro Bowler and 2x Super Bowl champ with the #Chiefs finds a new home in Denver.
In four seasons as a Chief after being traded for back in the spring of 2019, Clark started in 55 regular-season games and recorded 127 combined tackles. He also notched 23.5 sacks and 59 quarterback hits in the process while also breaking up seven passes and forcing six fumbles. The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion also continued to build on his impressive postseason legacy as one of the best playoff performers among all pass-rushers in league history. Clark's 13.5 postseason sacks currently rank third all-time.
Just a few weeks ago, Arrowhead Report's Zack Eisen discussed the possibility of the Chiefs re-signing Clark and concluded that it would be an "excellent move" to bring him back for one more year:
At the end of the day, adding more bodies to the defensive line room can't hurt, especially when that body is one of the core pieces of Kansas City's recent success as well as one of the best playoff pass rushers in NFL history. On top of that, Clark's ability as a run defender is a missing component of the Chiefs' current defensive line group. He could also help groom young players with his leadership.
Between the relationships Clark has built in the Chiefs organization, whether with Andy Reid or Chris Jones, and the value he adds to the roster, it is an excellent move to bring back the two-time Super Bowl champion to Kansas City for another season.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Clark's contract with the Broncos is a one-year commitment worth up to $7.5 million. The deal includes a base-guaranteed salary of $5.5M, $1M in "makeable incentives" and another "challenging" $1M in incentives. Schefter adds that Clark and Denver head coach Sean Payton "hit it off" when they talked on the phone earlier in the week.
Without Clark in the fold, the Chiefs presently have a depth chart headlined by 2022 first-round pick George Karlaftis, veteran free agent signing Charles Omenihu and 2023 first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Additionally, 2020 draft pick Mike Danna will serve as a high-end depth piece. Behind that quartet, though, the team likely has room for one more player to emerge along the outside of Steve Spagnuolo's defensive line.
