Chiefs Awarded IHMA Rights for Austria and Switzerland

In this story:
The 2023 NFL Draft is in Kansas City this year, bringing plenty of attention to an area that just witnessed its hometown Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII earlier this calendar year. The Chiefs' global impact is as expansive right now as it's ever been, and it's only going to grow from here on out thanks to yet another development in regards to European marketing.
Per a Tuesday release from the Chiefs, the NFL has awarded them International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) rights for Austria and Switzerland.
The Chiefs are no strangers to IHMA rights, as they were granted those privileges back in December of 2021 for both Mexico and Germany. Now, in addition to those two countries, Kansas City can launch marketing in the aforementioned two new areas that include "paid advertising campaigns, signing local sponsorship deals, extending domestic sponsors internationally and looking to host fan events." Chiefs President Mark Donovan shared his thoughts on the franchise's exciting announcement:
“We have committed a lot of energy and effort into growing the Chiefs brand – as well as helping grow the NFL – internationally, and today’s development is going to continue to allow us to invest in European markets. The game this season in Germany, much like our games in London and Mexico City, will create amazing opportunities for our fans. Given our history, we think we’re uniquely positioned to take advantage of these expanded commercial and fan development rights in Austria and Switzerland, and we can’t wait to get started.”
As Donovan pointed out, the Chiefs are designated to play one of their 2023 regular-season games in Germany. This, combined with the approval for IHMA rights in Austria and Switzerland, will give international fans more exposure to the team's brand and help expand the NFL's overall global footprint in the process.
