Frank Clark Coming to Kansas City Tomorrow, According to Frank Clark

The Kansas City Chiefs and Frank Clark appear to be one step closer to a reunion, according to the man himself.

Straight from the former-horse's mouth! Recently released Denver Broncos defensive end Frank Clark broke his own news on Wednesday, tweeting that he was going to be heading to Kansas City on Thursday, bringing him one step closer to a reunion with the team he was with for the last four seasons.

Clark, who gave back more than $1.6 million to facilitate his release from the Broncos, replied to a fan hoping to meet him when he is in Kansas City.

"Link up on Red Friday! I land on Thursday," Clark tweeted.

Clark's tweet came 20 minutes before Carrington Harrison reported that Clark wasn't only visiting.

"Former Chiefs DL Frank Clark will be getting a physical done tomorrow at the Chiefs team facility," Harrison tweeted.

Clark has dealt with injuries and an illness (or illnesses) over the course of his nine-year NFL career, and putting a player through a physical is standard procedure before a signing. While this doesn't make Clark's signing a foregone conclusion, it's an important step for both sides to clear before bringing No. 55 back to Kansas City.

The Chiefs do have a number of young defensive ends who are already struggling to see the field, and the team has Charles Omenihu back with the team after serving a six-game suspension that kept him out of the first leg of the Chiefs' season. Perhaps Clark would sign to the Chiefs' practice squad, where he could be around KC's young pass-rushers without forcing them to release a player like Malik Herring or rookie BJ Thompson, who hasn't played yet in 2023.

These moves coincide with another familiar face returning to the Chiefs, as the team traded for New York Jets wide receiver Mecole Hardman on Wednesday, swapping late-round draft picks to bring Hardman back to the team that drafted him in 2019.
