KC Chiefs Release Week 6 Injury Designations for Travis Kelce and Two Others

In this story:
The Kansas City Chiefs are just one day away from their Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos, which means the team is inching closer and closer to deciding who will and will not be active for Thursday Night Football.
With no team media availability on Wednesday morning or afternoon, no additional clarity was provided for injuries to players such as tight end Travis Kelce (ankle) and defensive end George Karlaftis (hamstring). Both were limited in practice during the week, leaving some questions surrounding their potential availability for Thursday's game.
That uncertainty still exists, as Kansas City is officially listing both of them as questionable for Week 6. Punter Tommy Townsend joins them as a late-week addition to the official injury report with a left knee ailment. Here's the full breakdown of where the Chiefs stand health-wise on Wednesday afternoon:
- LIMITED PARTICIPANT, QUESTIONABLE: Kelce, Karlaftis, Townsend
- FULL PARTICIPANT, NO DESIGNATION: Nick Bolton (ankle), Matt Dickerson (knee), Mike Danna (rib), Trent McDuffie (quad), L'Jarius Sneed (knee), Kadarius Toney (toe), Drue Tranquill (knee)
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network indicates that Kelce is "in a good position to play," although he's still not a lock to be active. The veteran pass catcher will likely be put through some final tests regarding his low-ankle sprain on Thursday before the team makes an official decision on whether or not he'll suit up against the Denver. There hasn't been any apparent change or update on the status of Karlaftis, who has been held back during practice but wasn't mentioned in Sunday evening's brief postgame injury update from head coach Andy Reid.
With Townsend being such a last-second designation, his situation is the one to keep an eye on. The Chiefs have yet to add an emergency punter as of the publishing of this article, which could be a hint at the All-Pro's potential availability. If the team doesn't make a corresponding move in advance of Thursday's game, that's a telltale sign that Townsend is on track to make his normal start.
Elsewhere for Kansas City, linebacker Nick Bolton is set to rejoin the lineup after three weeks away from in-game reps. The third-year man suffered a sprained ankle during Week 2's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, ultimately missing more time than expected. Free agent pickup Drue Tranquill did an admirable job in relief of Bolton, who will now return and provide some added stability for Steve Spagnuolo's defense.
