KC Chiefs' Travis Kelce to Throw First Pitch at KC Royals Game on Monday

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is making the trip across the parking lot to throw out the first pitch at the Kansas City Royals' Monday night game.

Earlier this week, the Kansas City Royals announced that they are hosting "Chiefs Night" at Kauffman Stadium on Monday, June 12 for their game against the Cincinnati Reds. The celebration between the two professional clubs sharing the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City will feature a co-branded rally towel being given to the first 20,000 fans in attendance, as well as much more. On Thursday, the Royals shared another key tidbit about the pregame festivities.

Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce will be throwing out the club's ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.

Labeled as "redemption" in the Royals' graphic, this pokes fun at Kelce's first experience throwing out a first pitch. Back in April, the 33-year-old tight end infamously came up short when he spiked his first pitch attempt at a Cleveland Guardians game in front of his hometown crowd. This time around, he'll get an opportunity to right the ship in front of fans from a city he's grown all too familiar with over the last decade.

Per the Royals' release sent out on Thursday morning, fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. local time to see not only Kelce, but also quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid carry the Super Bowl LVII trophy down a red carpet that runs from the bullpen to the infield. Also appearing at Chiefs Night will be the Chiefs' mascot, KC Wolf, as well as team cheerleaders. The release also notes that the first pitch from Kelce will be thrown to none other than Mahomes.

First pitch for the game itself against Cincinnati is expected to be at 7:10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased after perusing the Royals' promotions page, which also has more information on Chiefs Night and what to expect on Monday night.
