In this story:

The Kansas City Chiefs' first practice of the week is in the books, and there's good and bad news on the injury front with a Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos on the horizon.

As expected, everyone got some work in and participated in Tuesday afternoon's practice. Head coach Andy Reid projected so during his media availability earlier in the day, also sharing a bit of an update on tight end Travis Kelce's ankle injury. Now that practice is over, the team has issued an official injury report that follows up Monday's estimate. Here's the full breakdown of designations:

  • DID NOT PARTICIPATE: N/A
  • LIMITED PARTICIPANT: Kelce, Nick Bolton (ankle), George Karlaftis (hamstring)
  • FULL PARTICIPANT: Matt Dickerson (knee), Mike Danna (rib), Trent McDuffie (quad), L'Jarius Sneed (knee), Kadarius Toney (toe), Drue Tranquill (knee)

The immediate positive takeaway here is that Kelce got through his first practice of Week 6 without suffering any reported setbacks. As the 34-year-old attempts to work through a low-ankle sprain suffered in Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings, the clock is working against him. With that said, not missing valuable practice time and simply getting some level of work in two days before this week's game is a good sign. As of now, it's still unclear whether Kelce will be active on Thursday. Reid suggested a wait-and-see approach on Tuesday morning.

Elsewhere, Dickerson and Bolton continue to make progress as they look to return from their respective injuries. The former's knee swelled up early last week and held him out of Week 5, with the latter's ankle sprain forcing him to miss a third-straight game despite him getting back to practice during the week. Both players appear to be potentially tracking to play this week if things go as planned. Bolton still not being a full participant in practice isn't necessarily a reason to worry.

As far as Karlaftis is concerned, being limited on Tuesday is noteworthy. Reid didn't mention him in his postgame injury roundup on Sunday, instead lumping in Kelce, Danna and Tranquill together. Until Charles Omenihu (presumably) returns from the suspended list following Week 6, the 2022 first-round pick is likely the Chiefs' second-best pass rusher behind Chris Jones. If this hamstring injury limits him by the time Thursday rolls around, that could be bad news for Kansas City. His situation is something to monitor.
