Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach could be more excited about his bookend selections on Day 2 than he is about No. 31 overall in the first round. Mel Kiper and Field Yates have some attractive recommendations.

The ESPN draft analysts on Tuesday alternated selections over a three-round mock draft. Kansas City owns No. 63 toward the end of the second round and No. 66 at the top of Round 3, obtained from Tennessee in the L'Jarius Sneed trade.

The Chiefs have four of the first 95 selections for just the second time since Veach ascended to the general manager chair in 2018. The other year was 2022, when Veach and Andy Reid launched their current stretch of three straight Super Bowl berths with arguably their best draft together.

Kansas City was assertive that year, first trading up with New England to draft cornerback Trent McDuffie at 21, using the No. 29 pick the Chiefs received from Miami in the Tyreek Hill trade. Then, the Chiefs used their own first-round choice to take defensive end George Karlaftis. Both players have excelled in their first three years in Steve Spagnuolo’s system.

But assuming they don’t trade up again into the top 10 and keep all four of those selections, here’s what Kiper and Yates drafted for Veach and Reid on Tuesday.

1. (31) Josh Conerly, OT, Oregon

Yates: "What a coup this would be for Kansas City. The Chiefs must continue to address the offensive line even following the signing of Jaylon Moore. Conerly was excellent last season as the frontside protector for Dillon Gabriel, allowing just one sack. He could eventually do that for Patrick Mahomes. Conerly is always in control and dependable."

2. (63) Landon Jackson, EDGE, Arkansas

Yates: "Kansas City will always be in the business of adding pass rushers, and Jackson has terrific length and plays with one of the best motors in the class. The Chiefs tied for 18th in sacks last season (39)."

3. (66) Harold Fannin, TE/HB, Bowling Green

Kiper: "Fannin led the nation in receiving last season with 1,555 yards. Kansas City could use him in a multitude of ways, and he could even develop into Travis Kelce's eventual replacement."

4. (95) Dylan Fairchild, G, Georgia

Yates: "The Chiefs traded Joe Thuney this offseason. Fairchild is pro-ready and allowed only five pressures and zero sacks over his 35-game college career."
