In this story:

The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 14 eyeing a critical win, yet their opponent may need one even more.

The 6-6 Buffalo Bills are coming into town, coming off a bye and having most of their playoff hopes hanging in the balance this week. Sean McDermott, Josh Allen and company have had some close losses this year, including one against the Philadelphia Eagles a couple of weekends ago. They'll look to get back on track in Kansas City as they continue along a brutal stretch of play.

For the Chiefs, it's been an up-and-down campaign filled with plenty of mental mistakes on offense. Luckily for them, Steve Spagnuolo's defense surprised many by emerging as an elite unit this year. That side of the ball has slowed down a bit in recent weeks, though, so the pressure is on the offense to get the job done on Sunday. Both teams enter the game banged up, adding to an already high degree of difficulty.

Ahead of their Sunday afternoon outing back at home, the Chiefs' list of inactive players has been released. Here's who won't suit up for Kansas City:

  • RB Isiah Pacheco
  • LB Drue Tranquill
  • CB Nic Jones
  • DE BJ Thompson
  • OT Donovan Smith
  • DT Neil Farrell
  • DE Malik Herring

It's been a rough week on the health front for Andy Reid's squad, as the Chiefs ruled out four players in advance of Sunday's game. Running back Isiah Pacheco (shoulder), safety Bryan Cook (ankle), left tackle Donovan Smith (neck) and linebacker Drue Tranquill (concussion) will all sit out of Week 14's matchup. Cook, who suffered a scary injury in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers, was placed on the injured reserve list on Saturday. He's out for a minimum of four games.

At the same time Cook went on IR, linebacker Nick Bolton was activated off the list. The third-year man is set to return to the lineup for the first time since Week 7 after dislocating his wrist, undergoing surgery and recently having his 21-day practice window opened up. Kansas City elevated safety Deon Bush and running back Deneric Prince from the practice squad on Saturday, adding some depth to the roster on game day.

The Bills' inactives have also been released:

  • S Damar Hamlin
  • DE Kingsley Jonathan
  • OG Germain Ifedi
  • OT Alec Anderson
  • DT Poona Ford

Outside of players like Matt Milano and Tre'Davious White who are out for the year, Buffalo's injury picture wasn't too bad entering Week 14. Only two players — cornerback Kaiir Elam (ankle) and tight end Dawson Knox (wrist) — were designated as questionable after having their 21-day windows opened to come off IR. Knox will return to the lineup on Sunday, although Elam needs some more time before entering the fold again. He wasn't activated in time to play this week.
