In this story:

The 2023 NFL Draft is in the books, and teams like the Kansas City Chiefs have first-year players finishing up rookie minicamp on Monday and then moving forward with their respective offseasons. With April's draft still fresh on the minds of observers, however, fans are being vocal about how they feel their teams performed in terms of bringing in quality rookie classes.

Doing research in an effort to find out which fanbases were the angriest or happiest regarding how their teams did in the 2023 NFL Draft, Gambling.com used the social listening tool Linkfluence to "analyze the social media reactions and posts on Twitter and Reddit" and turn those reactions into quantifiable data sets via calculated percentages. All NFL clubs' fanbases produced varying results, with some clearly leaning one way or another and others being somewhere in the middle.

Luckily for the Chiefs, fans feel that general manager Brett Veach and his staff did a good job drafting this year. Trailing just two teams in average fan positivity (15.45%) and checking in at 30th in average fan negativity (3.96%), the fanbase gives a resoundingly positive review for the 2023 draft class in Kansas City. Those numbers stack up favorably league-wide as well. Below is a list of the top five squads in average positivity:

  • Denver Broncos (20.70%)
  • Los Angeles Rams (18.65%)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (15.45%)
  • Dallas Cowboys (14.91%)
  • Seattle Seahawks (14.86%)

And the top five in average negativity:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21.61%)
  • Cleveland Browns (14.82%)
  • Carolina Panthers (13.10%)
  • Miami Dolphins (11.92%)
  • Detroit Lions (11.40%)

Accompanying the Chiefs in the top five are the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks. Those teams' fanbases all believe their respective front offices performed well in the draft, with Denver having an average positivity of greater than 20% and Seattle being just under 15%. Per Gambling.com's research, the Chiefs' percentage of positive Twitter posts (15.70) and positive Reddit posts (15.20) were nearly identical.

Occupying the top five spots for the most negative reactions to the draft are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions. Their average negativity scores range from over 11% to a staggering 21.61% for Tampa Bay.

The Chiefs skewed a bit more negatively on Reddit (4.80%) than on Twitter (3.11%), but their average of 3.96% still managed to remain one of the lowest among all 32 teams. While comparisons to consensus draft boards left the Chiefs' draft class looking like a series of reaches, fans don't appear to echo that same sentiment in their analysis of Kansas City's 2023 haul.
