The 2023 NFL Draft is officially just under a month away. In order to help you all along until draft day, I decided to start a daily prospect spotlight series to talk about some players that the Colts could target next month.

The players mentioned in this series will be players that I have either heard that the team is really high on or are players that just make way too much sense for the team based on fit/past draft history.

Next up on the countdown to Draftmas is Georgia Tech DL Keion White.

Background

Keion White is a former three star recruit that chose to attend Old Dominion out of high school. White has had an interesting college football journey, as he initially began his playing career as a tight end. He redshirted during the 2017 season and then debuted (as a tight end) back in 2018.

In his first season of college football playing time, White hauled in 11 passes for 124 yards in a mostly reserve role. He was set for a bigger role on offense the following season but he opted to switch to defensive end during spring practices in 2019. He started the following season as an edge rusher for ODU.

In his first season at his new position, White emerged as a star on defense. He started 12 games for the Monarchs, totaling 62 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. He earned Second Team All-C-USA honors for his strong play.

Following his breakout season in 2019, White opted to transfer to Georgia Tech. He got off to a bit of a slow start with the program, as he had to sit out the 2020 season due to transfer rules and missed a majority of the 2021 season with an injury. He emerged as a star for the team in his final year of eligibility in 2022 however.

White started 12 games this past season for Georgia Tech, totaling 54 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, and 7.5 sacks. He earned Third Team All-ACC honors for his strong play. After the season, White was invited to the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl.

Ability on Film

Keion White is a versatile defensive lineman with sky high potential. He possess the right length and power to be dominant interior pass rusher on passing downs and the sturdiness to be a lockdown run defending edge on early downs.

In a lot of ways, White is similar to Dayo Odeyingbo from a few years backs. He peaked late in his career and flashed a ton on film in his final year of college (without ever truly putting it all together). He's raw on film but the flashes are among the best in the entire class.

Keion White is a strong run defender that holds up well at the point of attack. He uses his length well and he has a strong lower half to hunker down and hold his ground. He is an every down player at the next level that can provide positive play in both the run and pass game.

White is an athletically gifted pass rusher that plays with a ton of effort on every snap. He simply gets after it, and never takes a play off on defense. His drive and his power will lead to a lot of production in the NFL as a pass rusher.

Fit with the Colts/Team Interest

The Colts' defensive tackle duo is set for the upcoming season, with both Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner returning to the team. What the Colts need to add now is young, athletic depth behind them. Eric Johnson has potential, but the Colts could still use more dart throws at the position.

Keion White is cut from the same mold as Dayo Odeyingbo and Denico Autry. He is a powerful player, with athletic upside, that can rush inside or out. He can be an asset early on as a run defender and grow into so much more as a pass rusher over time.

The Colts clearly have a type on the defensive line and White fits it perfectly. Indy has had him in for a Top 30 visit this offseason and they have kept an open line of communication with him as well.

Overall, White could be another versatile pass rusher added to Gus Bradley's arsenal this offseason.
