In this story:

The Indianapolis Colts upset the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Field on Sunday 23-16. According to ESPN Gamecast, Indianapolis was a 2.5-point underdog with just a 44.4% chance of winning.

One might think that pulling off an upset might be worth a promotion in their power rankings, but the Colts held steady at No. 17 in the Week 6 edition of ESPN's NFL Power Rankings

Last week ESPN made the rare move of elevating the Colts despite their loss to the Rams. They moved up from No. 20 to No. 17 after their comeback bid fell short.

It's almost as if these media entities have a preconceived notion of where teams should be ranked regardless of week-to-week results.

The Colts were leapfrogged by the Atlanta Falcons who needed a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Houston Texans in Atlanta. While the Texans were coming off two-impressive wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers, they were throttled at home 31-20 in Week 2 by these same Colts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers also jumped from No. 19 to No. 15 after their comeback victory over the Ravens... in Pittsburgh. If only we could think of another two-loss team that won in Baltimore.

The New Orleans Saints moved from No. 18 to No. 14 after winning 34-0 in New England against a Patriots team that is suddenly one of the worst in the NFL. The Saints also moved to 3-2. The Saints' wins have come against the Titans, the 0-5 Carolina Panthers, and the 1-4 Patriots.

Not exactly murderers' row.

The Colts have a strong argument to be above all-three of those teams.

Power rankings don't win football games, but it's still interesting to point out inconsistencies from week-to-week. The Colts will have a good chance this week to move up in the standings and the power rankings against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville is coming off two impressive victories over the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills. Both games were in London and the Jaguars will be hosting the Colts in Jacksonville on Sunday.

ESPN puts the Jaguars at No. 10 in their Week 6 power rankings, and frankly, that may be a little low.

The Colts will likely be without starting quarterback Anthony Richardson who is dealing with a shoulder injury. However, Minshew led the team to their road victory in Baltimore in Week 3, so the team should be in good hands.
