The Indianapolis Colts selected cornerback Jaylon Jones in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Jones, 21, was a Texas A&M cornerback that amassed 32 starts in just three collegiate seasons. He was starting games as a true freshman against SEC competition.

Despite the pedigree and experience that Jones brought to the table, he fell all the way to the seventh round due to a poor forty yard dash time (4.57 seconds) and a lack of ball production in 2022 (zero interceptions on 19 targets in coverage). Still, Jones is a technically sound player that has been standing out so far in camp.

Fellow rookie cornerbacks JuJu Brents and Darius Rush have faced injuries and inconsistencies in camp, so it has been Jones that has truly reaped the rewards of the Colts' youth movement at the position. He started camp near the bottom of the depth chart but now appears primed for a legit rotational role in 2023.

Jones was fantastic this past weekend against the Chicago Bears, totaling two pass breakups and multiple stops in a couple drives of action in the preseason game. He looked fluid and in control throughout the contest and held his own against some talented wideouts across from him.

Today, I dove into a few of the rookies' top plays from this past weekend and broke them down in video format. The 16 minute video below goes into detail about the mostly positive day that the rookie cornerback had against the Bears.
