'An Absolute Joy!' Commanders Ex Coach Jennifer King Reflects on Time with Team

As she departs the Washington Commanders, coach Jennifer King sent a message to all those who impacted her time with the franchise.

The Washington Commanders are turning a page and have almost completely replaced the previous coaching staff with new names, faces, and energy.

As excited as Commanders fans are for the fresh start, there are coaches they'll miss with assistant running backs coach Jennifer King at or near the top of that list for most.

King is joining the Chicago Bears staff as an offensive assistant, reuniting with defensive end Montez Sweat who was in Washington from the start of his career before being traded last season.

As she departs the Washington Commanders franchise coach Jennifer King sent a message to all those who impacted her time with the franchise.

On Wednesday, coach King took time to share her appreciation before fully turning her focus toward her new challenges with the Bears.

"I want to give a huge s/o and thanks to the DMV area," King said in a social media posting. "You’ve (shown) me so much love and I appreciate it. Thank you to all of the great coaches, staff and players with the Commanders who have made these last 4yrs an absolute joy."

King is known as a trailblazer in the industry establishing herself as an offensive assistant coach for franchises like the Commanders and Carolina Panthers before becoming the first woman hired to the Chicago staff in franchise history.

Working with former running backs coach Randy Jordan who is now with the Tennessee Titans, King was able to contribute to running back Brian Robinson Jr.'s rise from third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to the starting job before the end of his first preseason.

While an injury in his rookie season and pass-heavy focus in his second have held Robinson back a bit he's still been able to gain nearly 2,000 yards of offense in his first two years in the NFL putting him in the top 10 of franchise history through two seasons.

King now joins a Bears team that ranked top 10 in rushing offense but was near the bottom of it in passing.
