Washington Commanders Fight Hard, But Fall in OT vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated after beating the Washington Commanders.

The Washington Commanders are heading home disappointed after a 34-31 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Commanders began the game in the driver's seat after touchdowns on each of their first two drives.

Receiver Curtis Samuel started the scoring on a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Then, offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles fell on a fumble in the end zone after a long and fruitful drive from the offense.

The Eagles were a little slower in getting their offensive rhythm, but they managed to score a touchdown and a field goal before halftime to cut the deficit to 17-10.

In the second half, the Eagles began to take over. A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts connected on a pair of touchdowns, including one with less than two minutes to go in the game to take over the game.

The Commanders had one last chance to tie the game, and got the ball inside the 10-yard line with one second to go. As time expired, quarterback Sam Howell found Jahan Dotson for a touchdown to send the game to overtime.

The Commanders had a chance to drive down the field in overtime, but were forced to punt. The Eagles got into field goal range and Jake Elliott knocked down a game-winning 54-yard field goal.

Considering the fact that the Commanders lost by 34 points a week ago, this is definitely a step in the right direction despite another defeat. There's a decent amount of positive development that the team can take with it moving forward.

Sam Howell showed some improvement, completing 29 of 41 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown in a far better performance than he had last week against the Buffalo Bills.

The Commanders are running on a short week this week as they get set to host the Chicago Bears (0-4) on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
