Aaron Rodgers OK's Jets Trade, Was '90% Retiring' Before 'Darkness Retreat' - Plays at Cowboys in 2023

So, at least Aaron Rodgers being traded to the Jets means he is out of the NFC and out of the hair of the Dallas Cowboys, right? Wrong.

FRISCO - Our long national nightmare is over.

Aaron Rodgers, who is coming off of a disappointing 18th season in Green Bay and who is coming off a "darkness retreat'' that he said helped him change his mind from being "90 percent retired,'' has OK'ed a trade from the Packers to the New York Jets.

Said Rodgers on Wednesday's Pat McAfee Show: "At this point as I sit here, I made my intention (known) that I want to play, and my intention is to play for the New York Jets."

Rodgers, 39, took a couple of pokes at the Packers, of course - he's changing teams, not personalities - by blaming them for not being open about their desire to move on from him.

Of course, that's the same thing the MVP QB has done to the Packers in multiple offseasons.

So, at least he's out of the NFC and out of the hair of the Dallas Cowboys, right?

Wrong.

The Cowboys' schedule for 2023 includes a visit from the New York Jets to AT&T Stadium ... and you know what usually happens when Rodgers plays the Cowboys.

That darkness retreat must really be something, because he recently told the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast,” “My life and my happiness is directly connected to how I feel about football and it gave me such a deep calm about how I feel about the decision.''

The Packers supposedly want two first-round picks from the Jets - a silly ask given his age and how mediocre he was last year in his poorest season ever. But the wheels have been in motion for days, wheels that have included Rodgers telling the Jets which pass-catchers he'd like them to sign.

And voila! This week the Jets agreed to a four-year, $44 million deal with wide receiver Allen Lazard, one of the quarterback’s top targets in Green Bay.

So Rodgers is done with the Packers, and they're fine with it.

But the Cowboys are not done with Rodgers, unfortunately.
