Bijan Robinson ‘Only 2 Teams’ Visit? Cowboys Hiding Secret in NFL Draft

Is it a significant "oh-oh'' for Dallas as "America's Team'' did not register an "official'' visit with the first-round prospect Bijan Robinson? Not exactly ... as the Cowboys have a "secret'' of sorts.

FRISCO - It is officially truthful and it is officially significant: As we approach this week's 2023 NFL Draft, with "official'' visits now likely behind us, let the record show that Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson only made two excursions to NFL cities.

"I've been talking to a lot of teams on Zoom and on calls, but those are the two places I've been," Robinson said of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Is that a significant "oh-oh'' for the Dallas Cowboys, who did not register an "official'' visit with the first-round prospect? Not exactly ... as the Cowboys have a "secret'' of sorts.

What Robinson said in an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show'' is "accurate. Some observers are surprised that Dallas - which is desirous of trying to add a running back in this draft at some point and of course loves Bijan - didn't seek a face-to-face visit with him.

But here's why Dallas didn't bother: Robinson, the Longhorns standout who led the nation with 1,894 total scrimmages yards (1,580 rushing, 314 receiving) and was second in total touchdowns (20) has gotten to know the Cowboys quite well. We know he made at least one visit to AT&T Stadium to watch a Cowboys game, and was made to feel like royalty on that visit. And then he also visited The Star in Frisco, and received the same treatment.

Nothing "official'' about it; just a "fan'' watching a game and taking a tour. But along the way, he was befriended by (now-released) Ezekiel Elliott. And more recently he's been befriended by Micah Parsons. And we will offer an educated guess that between visits to AT&T Stadium and The Star and workouts with pals in the DFW area that he's probably been "befriended'' by the likes of owner Jerry Jones or personnel boss Will McClay or coach Mike McCarthy as well.

The off-the-books "visits'' do not mean Dallas (which right now sits at No. 26 in Round 1) is trading up for Robinson, which would seem to be a requirement to drafting him. But file this away: The lack of "official'' visits'' should not be taken as an indication that the Cowboys and Bijan Robinson are at all unfamiliar with one another.
