Cowboys a .500 Team? 'No Question' Eagles Better, Predicts Colin Cowherd

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off back-to-back 12-win seasons, but Colin Cowherd isn't convinced they can match that total in 2023.

FRISCO - Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys believe they are building upward as they are coming off consecutive 12-win campaigns. But as least one media critic is not buying that trajectory.

It’s Colin Cowherd who isn't convinced that Dallas can do that - or anything close to that - in 2023.

Cowherd, seemingly begrudgingly, thinks Dallas is destined to be merely "pretty good,” and believes the team's 9.5 win total suggested as the over/under by oddsmakers is "exactly what it should be" … and that he would lean toward the under.

"Let's be as clear as we can: If Mike McCarthy is a B-B+ coach and Dak is a B-B+ quarterback, that feels incredibly fair," Cowherd said.

Oh, and something else: The Philadelphia Eagles are "no question" better than their NFC East rival from Dallas.

What would cause Dallas to shrink from being a 12-win team to hovering around .500 during this 17-game season? Cowherd’s claim, he said, is based on his belief that the Cowboys have nine games in which Prescott is the matchup's better quarterback. And in the other eight? The FS1 host said he prefers QBs Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, Tua Tagovailoa, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts.

Is Cowherd right about the coach and QB being “B’s”? And even if he is, what if the rest of the Dallas roster is loaded with “A’s”?

Is Cowherd right about guys like Goff and Tua being better than Dak? We’re not sure all football people would agree.

Is Cowherd right about there being “no question” that Dallas is inferior to Philly? The evidence does not suggest that is true at all.

Is Cowboys right that Dallas is probably going to finish around 9-7? Hey, offseason guessing is what makes offseason horse races.
