'I Believe in Dak!' Rare National Prediction: Prescott's Cowboys Win East
The Dallas Cowboys will be attempting to win back the NFC East divisional crown this season, and legendary NFL running back Fred Taylor believes they have what it takes. ... making him a rarity among national media observers.
In a recent episode of Taylor’s podcast, The Pivot, he sat down with Washington Commanders Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin and picked the Cowboys to win the division.
“I believe in Dak. I think he has an opportunity to bounce back strong,” Taylor said. “They’re trying to build the pieces of their defense. .. Hopefully, they can do better on offense and give it a run.”
Taylor’s belief in Dak is noteworthy because he was willing to side against his cohosts, Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, who both chose the Philadelphia Eagles to repeat as NFC champions. It's also noteworthy because picking the Eagles - not that there's anything wrong with that - is a popular choice ... almost as popular as dog-piling Dak.
And one more thing about Taylor: A year ago, Taylor predicted that Tony Pollard would take the Cowboys’ backfield reins from Ezekiel Elliott by 2023. Lo and behold, Pollard is a Pro Bowler and Zeke is released and unsigned and Taylor now looks like a prophet for predicting the fate of ‘America’s Team.’
Could his latest stance on Dallas’ prospects prove to be as accurate as his past ones? If so, Cowboys Nation should rejoice because winning a highly competitive NFC East should make them the favorites to go all the way to the Super Bowl, especially after their Philly rivals were a play away from hoisting the Lombardi last year.
How Dak rebounds following the worst statistical season of his career might very well determine the ceiling for Dallas this year. ... and the results will separate the predictors from the pretenders.
