Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks on Dak Prescott & ‘Great Ones’ Brady, Brees & Deshaun

New Cowboy receiver Brandin Cooks is already getting in work with Dak Prescott and he is liking what he is seeing.

The Dallas Cowboys knew heading into the offseason the offense needed another weapon. That came in the form of Brandin Cooks being acquired via trade from the Houston Texans.

With CeeDee Lamb the undisputed No.1 and Michael Gallup still finding his best form since returning from his ACL injury, Cooks is seen as a good option for the WR2 role, and he is already getting in the work with Dak Prescott.

So, what does he think of his new quarterback?

"I've been around some great ones, and we been throwing, and I got to tell you … that guy can sling that ball," Cooks said at the Cowboys' 10th annual ⁦Reliant Energy Home Run Derby. “He's special, when that ball come out his hand, he's special with it.

Cooks, despite knowing Dak only for a short time, also praised Prescott the person.

He's [got] natural-born leadership, there's a couple guys I've been around that can lead a team, and the way he's been doing it, to be this young is unbelievable."

Cooks isn’t making a “comparison,” per se. But those “great ones” he’s been around? Those include names like Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Deshaun Watson.

Building that chemistry early on is paramount for success, with Prescott and Cooks already getting on the same page

Coming to a team that has back-to-back 12-win seasons, Cooks is seen by some as the guy to give Dallas more "fear" offensively. Last season, the Cowboys, aside from a 50-yard bomb from Prescott to T.Y. Hilton against the Philadelphia Eagles, never stretched the field consistently. That now changes with Cooks

But … Can he still run at his blazing 4.3 speed?

"No question," Cooks said with a confident smile. "I take care of my body."
