'Just As It Should Be!' Cowboys Dan Quinn Reacts to 'Cool' Playoff Opportunity at Commanders
If there ever was a time for the Dallas Cowboys to follow their "Carpe Omnia" mantra, the Week 18 clash against the Washington Commanders is the chance to do it.
The Cowboys know that a win at FedEx Field on Sunday will secure the No. 2 seed and the NFC East crown - so it is gut-check time.
After Dallas narrowly beat the Detroit Lions 20-19 on Saturday night, the following day, the Philadelphia Eagles slipped up against the Arizona Cardinals, handing the Cowboys a clear path to the division and home field in the playoffs.
“With our game going against Washington for a division title, man, you couldn't write that up any better. What a cool moment to be here - just as it should be," defense coordinator Dan Quinn said.
“It's going to be a battle this week and we're ready.”
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Cowboys seemed a certainty to finish as the No. 5 seed and have to take their talents on the road to begin the playoffs, in a similar fashion to last season.
But with the Eagles imploding as they have lost four of their last five games, and Dallas going through its five-game gauntlet with a 3-2 record, the NFC and division race has been flipped on its head.
But while all the talk of the Cowboys getting the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game is all good and well, that is predicated on Dallas "actually" beating Washington.
But beware a team that has nothing to lose.

The Commanders would love nothing more than to spoil Dallas' party as they did last season in a 26-6 win, as they look to salvage something from their year.
“Sometimes an opportunity comes and you gotta go get it,” Quinn said. “You recognize when moments come, you go and you take your shot. You make your mark and you go for it, we certainly have a group that will do that."
Given the Cowboys' road woes this season (3-5), getting a home-field advantage, where they are undefeated this season, is of the utmost importance. As luck or the "lifting of a certain curse" would have it, things have turned the Cowboys' way after a dramatic Week 17.
It's all in front of the Cowboys - win and the NFC East and No. 2 seed will be secured at the expense of a rival.
In what is an ironic twist, the Cowboys have a chance to "seize everything" on Sunday and it doesn't matter what it looks like or by how much, the message is simple.
Just win, Dallas.
