Best New QB-WR Duos: Ranking Cowboys Dak Prescott & Brandin Cooks

The Dallas Cowboys signed a new weapon for Dak Prescott in Brandin Cooks. Where does the pair rank for best new quarterback/wide receiver duos in the NFL?

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has a shiny new weapon in Brandin Cooks. After needing offensive help for CeeDee Lamb, Cooks got the call.

Coming to a team that is coming off back-to-back 12-win seasons with an offense that was ranked fourth for points scored per game (averaged 27.5), Cooks will help fill that playmaker void and could push Dallas into Super Bowl contention in the process.

A host of quarterbacks have gotten new star receivers this offseason; where do Dak and Cooks rank for the league's best new tandem? NFL.com has the pair ranked seventh.

"The March trade for Cooks gives the Cowboys a perfect fit to fill out a pass-catching corps that struggled to find consistency opposite CeeDee Lamb in 2022," NFL.com writes."

"Cooks' speed brings a needed field-stretching element that was missing from Dallas' passing attack. His ability to play on the outside gives Dallas more options to move Lamb around the formation (particularly into the slot, where he thrives).

"He won't be the go-to target in Dallas' passing attack -- that's still Lamb -- but Cooks' deep acumen will help open up the field and provide plenty of opportunities for splash plays that were lacking last year."

Seventh? Having said all the above … That seems awfully low.

The other duos listed above Prescott and Cooks include Aaron Rodgers/Garrett Wilson (No. 1), Lamar Jackson/Odell Beckham Jr, Jimmy Garoppolo/Davante Adams, Trevor Lawrence/Calvin Ridley, and some somewhat surprising ones in Derek Carr/Chris Olave, and Justin Fields/D.J. Moore.

One could argue that the Prescott and Cooks tandem is better than a few above them, but ultimately, it will be on-field production that decides who the "best" duo will be.

And most of all, what matters is the Cowboys having yet another good season and being in the hunt for a Super Bowl, with Prescott and Cooks being a big part of it.
