Cowboys RB Deuce Vaughn Picking Darren Sproles' Brain 'Gives Me an Edge!'

Deuce Vaughn has been compared to Darren Sproles due to his size and the newest Dallas Cowboy is soaking in all the information given to him by the former NFL running back.

Deuce Vaughn is taking everything in his stride since being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys ... including being compared to former NFL running back Darren Sproles.

And...

Vaughn hasn't been shy about trying to give himself an edge over his competition in Frisco by using the inside knowledge learned by soaking in any and all information given to him by Sproles.

"I got to meet Darren my sophomore year at Kansas State, and he's been someone that's been in my corner ever since," Vaughn said. "Any time I can be in the same sentence as a guy like Darren Sproles, a guy that played 15 years in this league, top five in all-purpose yards in this league at my size, that's something I take seriously every single day. I've been trying to pick his brain going into this rookie camp and going into OTAs about what I can do to give myself an edge."

With Vaughn listed at 5-5 and Sproles at 5-6, naturally, the comparison will be made between the two, and Vaughn has used any information given by Sproles to his advantage.

Both are very similar football players and seeing as Sproles (Also from K-State, of course) played in the league for over a decade, getting hints and tips about playing the position at the NFL level is vital for Vaughn.

But what about Sproles' advice has resonated with Vaughn the most since becoming a Cowboy?

"Coming in and not wavering any confidence, even if you are the smallest guy in the locker room," Vaughn said. "Whenever you're walking with the rookie class, they're head and shoulders above you, but just understanding that you are here for a reason and to just go to work and show everybody what you can do."

The Cowboys have a full running back room with Tony Pollard, Ronald Jones, Rico Dowdle, and Malik Davis, Vaughn will need to impress the Cowboys coaching staff this offseason.

But with inside information from Sproles and an unwavering confidence in himself, Vaughn is ready for the fight that could ultimately end with a spot on Dallas' 53-man roster for next season.
