Cowboys' Deuce Vaughn 'Ready for War!' NFL Debut vs. Jaguars

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Deuce Vaughn is ready to "cut it loose" against the Jacksonville Jaguars in preseason Week 1.

Many rookies have kicked-off their NFL dreams this week and Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Deuce Vaughn will do the same against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday evening.

The sixth-rounder made a lot of noise at Kansas State with his speed, backfield receiving and cunning 5-foot-5 height. He hopes to continue defying expectations with his new team tonight.

"I'm excited to get out there," Vaughn said earlier this week. "I've built a bond with these guys on the football field playing with me. I'm super excited to get out there and go to war with them."

Vaughn said that he's had a "mental focus" throughout training camp, but wants to "cut it loose" tonight at AT&T Stadium.

"Whenever it's time to go and play on Saturday, you don't have to think," Vaughn said. "You know your assignment, you know the concept, you understand what you're doing and then you just let your ability and instincts take over."

Playing in a new home stadium could be a little intimidating and even somewhat scary for rookies at first, but Vaughn is very familiar with "Jerry's World."

"AT&T Stadium over my college career was probably my favorite place to play," Vaughn said. "Played there twice, last time we got a big-time W. I'm super excited to get back into AT&T Stadium, this time with the star on the side of the helmet and a star in the middle of the field. It's gonna be something else."

Heading into the 4 p.m. kickoff, Vaughn is hoping his "game translates to the speed of everything," but he's also living in the moment.

"Just an opportunity to play football, this is a blessing to be even standing here talking to y'all," Vaughn told reporters. "Not a lot of guys get this opportunity, so I'm gonna take it and run with it. (I have) nothing to prove for myself, it's about going out there and playing ball."

The Cowboys play their first preseason game against the Jaguars at 4 p.m. CT on CBS.
