Cowboys DeMarvion Overshown 'Awesome Fit!' Coach Sark on Longhorns LB in Dan Quinn Defense

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian detailed how DeMarvion Overshown could fit into the Cowboys defense under Dan Quinn.

Prior to taking a single snap at the NFL level, DeMarvion Overshown out of Texas is already seen by some as an intriguing linebacker prospect in the Dallas Cowboys defense.

Selected in the third round, Overshown will make his way to Dallas after being one of college football's most productive linebackers. A two-time Butkus Award semifinalist, Overshown will look to make a name for himself early in his NFL career.

Even though Overshown's role in the Cowboys defense is yet to be determined, Steve Sarkisian revealed what he thinks of the fit for the linebacker in an interview with 105.3 The Fan

"I think this is an awesome fit for D-Mo," Sarkisian said. "I worked for (Dallas coordinator) Dan Quinn for two years in Atlanta and I know the premise of that defense, and it's about running and hitting. It's about having players that are versatile and can fly to the football, that have a high football IQ recognizing situations as they come."

While Overshown finished his career at Texas as a linebacker, he was initially recruited as a defensive back before changing positions ahead of his third season. That versatility, as well as what Quinn emphasizes on defense, lead Sarkisian to believe Overshown will flourish in Dallas.

"All those things epitomize D-Mo. He can run and he will strike you when he gets there," Sarkisian said. "He's very versatile ... He came down and played off the edge in space, we moved him into the box and then we actually put him on the edge and let him rush the passer this past year. I just think it's an awesome fit schematically and personality-wise."

Overshown might not play right away defensively for Dallas but he provides linebacker depth and will likely have a chance to impress on special teams. But if "Coach Sark'' is right? The Texas native known as "Agent Zero'' in Austin might eventually put up some numbers in Dallas in Quinn's defense.
